Prior to Fidel Castro's reign, Cuba was open to immigration. However, once Castro proclaimed himself dictator of Cuba, one of the largest exodus recorded began, one that continues today, 47 years after the Cuban Revolution. Six central characters of the film discuss in detail their personal experiences through Operation Pedro Pan, the Freedom Flights, El Mariel, the Rafter Crisis, and the Cuban Visa Lottery.

Pierre, a young foreigner, arrives on an island after having killed the woman he loved. During his travel, he meets Janko, a dwarf who succeeded to land without being found by the gang coming to wait for him, to take a mysterious merchandise he was transporting.

Five couples at a critical moment in their relationship search for the answer to the big question: Are they made for each other? The participants will live apart but they will not be alone. They will live with ten single men and ten single women who want to find love. When this experience is over, they will have to decide how they want to return home: with their partner, alone or with their new love.
